VR Training & Vince Rucci Intro

VR Training is going to be the group for anyone that wants to accomplish the goal of finishing half marathons, marathons, or ultra marathons. The goal of the group is to see that everyone makes it across the finish line. We will divide the group amongst the 4 coaches to make sure that their is an opportunity for almost anyone to join our training group.

As for myself, the most recent accomplishments are new PR's in the marathon (2:46) and trail 50K (4:04). This past fall I ran two 14ers in Colorado (Long's Peak & Pike's Peak). In May of 2006 I did a Rim to Rim to Rim crossing of the Grand Canyon (14 hours). In 2008 I plan to run plenty of long distance races including the Vermont City Marathon in May, the Mohican 100 in June, and the Seattle Marathon in November.

As an individual who never ran in high school or college, I know that what I have learned on my own allows for me to better assist runners of all levels and abilities achieve their goals. I want participants in the training group to count on me and the rest of the coaching staff to give them all of the guidance, expertise, and advice that they need to make 2008 a great year of running!

Nick B. intro

I thought I'd follow Chef Bill's cue and introduce myself. Thanks, Bill! I am the newest edition to VR Training and appreciate Vince giving me the opportunity to help others train for and reach their running goals. The pic to the right was snapped during the summer 50K...that's me to the right, Nick V. in the middle, and Chef Bill behind Nick. Bill went on to beat us both!

For me, I've completed 19 marathons since 1997 with a PR of 3:21 back in 2000 at Richmond followed most recently by a 3:26 at Richmond in November this year. The summer 50K this year was my first ultra and January's BT50K will be my 2nd. Short-term goal for 2008 is to qualify for Boston...hopefully running at 3:15 at the Eugene Marathon or Flying Pig on May 4th.

Running has been great....if you ever want a great story...I'll pass on my weight-loss/lifestyle change story that started in 10/2006....hadn't run a marathon in 3 years and gained lots of weight...since then, I've shed 45 pounds and ran 7 marathons in 2007. To help keep me in check, you may catch me working at VR a few days a week early in the day.

See you on the trails and at the kickoff meeting on Jan. 2nd!

Just wanted to drop a post to introduce myself. I'm Bill Bailey AKA CHEF BILL.
